Following the untimely departure of experienced Prossy Alobo from the national volleyball team, head coach Tony Lakony has Friday unveiled Christine Alupo as her replacement as Uganda intensifies preparations ahead of Federation of International Volleyball World Championships qualifiers in Nairobi, Kenya next month.
Alobo also the longest serving player on the national team having earned her first cap in 2005 as a 20 year old cited family issues for the one-year sabbatical.
Ndejje University star Alupo has been her assistant.
Relatedly, Brussels Airlines has offered 14 return air tickets to the Uganda Ladies’ team to fly to Groningen, Holland where they will camp for a fortnight. Each of the 14 air tickets cost $ 1000 minus taxes.
The team will play against top flight clubs from the Dutch league and universities. Lakony also revealed that the top players from the Dutch national team will hold sessions with their Uganda counterparts.
