Travellers from Kampala to Nairobi now part with 65,000/= compared to 55,000/=previously. One pays 35000/= from Kampala to Rukungiri compared to 20000/= previously.
Badru Nyenje, the National Chairman for Uganda Passengers Protection Association told Chimpreports that many people have the desire to travel to different places for Christmas but some have been stopped due to the hiking of transport fares.
He has requested drivers to keep the fares constant because Ugandans are in a poverty state where their economy has been attacked by many aspects and this will stop them from travelling, and drivers will be the ones to lose.
Passengers have also been advised to make sure that they move with extra money to and from in order to avoid being stranded in the parks as drivers increase the fares every minute that passes.
Meanwhile Police has urged those travelling to beware of conmen and terrorists during this rush hour.
