The referee, who was among the top performers at the recent refresher course in Cairo, Egypt, said he was glad to be granted the opportunity.
“I know I will be handling the tournament with other top officials from the continent. I pray to God for guidance and to enable me perform well,” said Ssonko who has also handled the World Club qualifiers and CAF club cup matches.
The 35-year-old, who acquired his FIFA badge in 2010, said he is looking forward to representing Uganda well at the tournament.
However, FUFA president Moses Magogo said he was disappointed that Uganda will only be sending one referee to CHAN.
“The referees need to work hard to be able to attract the eyes of CAF and FIFA to handle big tournaments,” Magogo said.
