The question waiting to be answered tomorrow night is whether celebrated former world champion Kassim Ouma will revitalizing his faltering boxing career when he returns to action on Wednesday, December 11 after two years in the wilderness.
Ouma now 35 (27-8, 17KOs) will take on Azerbaijan-born Rahman Mustafa Yusubov (9-12,7KOs) in a scheduled six-round tune-up bout at Econolodge, Allentown in Pennsylvania, USA. This will be Ouma’s first fight since June, 2011 when he suffered a tenth round knockout defeat at the hands of Kazakhstan’s Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin.
Nicknamed ‘The Dream,’ Ouma captured the IBF junior middleweight belt in 2004 but since his 2006 defeat to American Jermain Taylor; his career has been in a free-fall. Further losses to Saul Roman (2007), Cornelius Bundrage (2008), Gabriel Rosado (2009), Vanes Martirosyan (2010) and Golovkin (2011) confirm Ouma’s nightmares in the middleweight category.
