Local kickboxers Ronald Mugula and Titus Tugume have stepped up their training time ahead of their Intercontinental Championship fight and non-title fights.
Mugula will contend for the Intercontinental Championship against Egyptian fighter Abdallah Hessen on New Year’s Day while Tugume will appear in the ring on Boxing day when he takes on Danyal Ezekiel who is currently based in Cyprus at Mbarara’s De Posh Bar.
“I don’t want to disappoint my fans in their New Year celebration party,” he said of a fight that will take place at Freedom City, Namasuba along Entebbe Road,” Mugula said.
The 65-kg kickboxer says he wants to use the New Year’s Day fight as preparation for the hotly-awaited encounter with Moses Golola while Tugume also looks to his next fight is a build up match for a possible Golola rematch in 2014 as well.
“It was an accident for me to lose to Golola so am preparing for him thus this is the pinnacle for my preparations and also a pinnacle fight for the year 2013,” stated Titus Tugume.
Tugume lost to a usually talkative Moses Golola in less than a minute in the opening round in what judges called a technical knockout in late August and would surely relish a re-match.
Ezakiel Danyal is yet to debut a professional kick boxing fight. In his 20 amateur fights, the west Nile born Ugandan has registered 7 knock-outs, 3 wins with points and only one loss. Thus this is a tune up fight to graduate from the Amateur level to the professional ranks.
