GOtv Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup deposed champions, Uganda, were sent packing by Tanzania in the quarterfinals on Saturday but Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic is not desolate, preferring to pick positives from the tournament and focus on the upcoming Africa Nations Championship.
Uganda lost to Tanzania 3-2 in post-match penalties after normal time had ended 2-2. “We have scored seven goals, conceded two,” Micho told reporters
“Of course you can’t judge our performance in this tournament on penalties. Penalties are a lottery.
“We have done well in giving players like Daniel Sserunkuma and Khalid Aucho chance to show what they can, in the process widening the pool of players for Cup of Nations, and the likes of Martin Mpuuga and others for Chan in January.
“Of course we are disappointed getting out in the quarterfinal but there are positives to pick. Now we can look forward to Chan in January and I’m confident we shall assemble a very strong team for South Africa.”
