Toyota Buffaloes’ support play whenever the backline touch the ball and ability of wing Philip Pariyo to turn good attacks into points again and again was not enough to save them from the narrow 25-22 loss to MTN Heathens at Kyadondo ground on Saturday.
This was Buffaloes’ first defeat in the Nile Special Super 8 Rugby League while champions Heathens made it five wins in as many games.
Two Tries from Philip Pariyo and another from Charles Uhuru complimented by double conversions by Robert Masende nearly toppled the experienced Heathens side.
First half saw MTN Heathens take the lead 18-0 thanks to Benon Kizza’s notable penalty and Allan Otim’s 60 meter try.
Buffaloes missed their fourth penalty into the final half as Heathens Asuman Mugerwa scored another try extending the score to 25-3.
Flank Mathias Ochwo and centre Michael Wokorach saw yellow for persistent indiscipline as the scrum.
DMark Kobs also keep their unbeaten run this season beating Ezze Money Rhinos 20-0 whil Mutoni Warriors also got their first victory, beating visiting Sadolin Mongers 10-8. G4S Pirates regained their formula, winning 34-0 at Lira Bulls.
