SCVU, who gained the right by virtue of winning the Uganda Cup will travel to Lubumbashi, Congo for the first leg on the first weekend of February before returning to Uganda for the return fixture two weeks later.
The aggregate winner from between SCVU and Don Bosco will proceed to the round of 16 to face off with the aggregate winner of the another preliminary tie for a chance in the lucrative group stages.
Dates for the round of 16 have been set as 28 Feb – 2 March with the reverse ties later on 7-9 March.
As a whole, 42 teams will feature in 21 preliminary games where the aggregate winners proceed. 10 other teams got byes from the initial round but will join in at the first round.
The team’s that got byes include; Asec Mimosas (Côte d’Ivoire), Ismaïly (Egypt), Wadi Degla (Egypt), Djoliba (Mali), MAS (Morocco), Bayelsa United (Nigeria), Warri Wolves (Nigeria), El Ahly Shandy (Sudan), E.S.S. (Tunisia), C.A.B. (Tunisia), Zesco United (Zambia)
