Two people were killed on Sunday night and 17 others injured critically following a motor accident in Soroti district.
The accident occurred at 7:55pm at Ajonyi village in Kamuda Sub County along Soroti –Lira Highway after a tipper truck registration number UAT 136V, which was transporting farmers from Orungo Sub County in Amuria to Soroti district to thresh their rice veered off the road because of a hind tyre burst.
The deceased have been identified as Robert Ochen and Francis Abiar Eyaku, residents of Ojama and Agora villages respectively in Orungo Sub County.
The two were killed after they fell off the tipper truck and were crashed by a speeding trailer. Some of the injured who are admitted at Soroti Regional Referral Hospital in critical condition are Martin Eligu, the LC I chairperson Agora village and his two teenage sons Charles Emechu and Joseph Etengu.
Others are Francis Einyu, the driver of the ill fated tip truck, James Eroku, Tom Okullu, Yuventino Ebulu, Robert Engwenyu, Richard Engwenyu, Joyce Isone, Solomon Ogaret, Sarah Abulo Celestino Elesu, Julius Ecoku and a one year-old baby Betty Agunyo.
