Coach Anthony Ndawula’s team launched their campaign in the Zone V qualifiers against Burundi with a straight sets victory at Amahoro Indoor stadium on Wednesday.

Uganda sailed through the improved Burundi side 25-21, 25-19 and 25-17 with senior players captain Dickens Otim and his assistant George Aporu rested for most of the first two sets and still manage to win.

Hosts Rwanda lost their second game to Egypt 3-1 after a one hour and fifty five minutes game last game of the evening at Amahoro.

Rwanda won their opening game against Burundi 3-0 and Egypt beat Kenya 3-2 before humiliating Rwanda in their second match yesterday.

The loss makes Rwanda’s next game against Kenya today a must win for Paul Bitok’s team to have realistic hopes of qualifying to the next round as second runners up or second runners up in this tournament. Both Rwanda and Kenya have one win apiece but the Kenyans have played a game less.
