Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic’s Confederation of East and Central Africa [CECAFA] Senior Challenge Cup defending champions Uganda Cranes will not face favourites Kenya’s Harambee Stars atleast not until after the group stages.
Uganda has been pooled Group ‘C’ while Kenya falls in Group ‘A’.
Cranes will be in the group alongside southern neighbours Rwanda and who are expected to pose the greatest challenge owing to their recent splendid form, Eriitrea and Sudan.
Taifa Stars from Tanzania have been pooled in Group ‘B’ alongside visitors Zambia, Burundi and Somalia while Kenya will face equally superior Ethiopia, Zanzibar and South Sudan.
The opener will be between hosts Harambee Stars against Walias from Ethiopia on Wednesday 27 November 2013 at the at Nyayo National Stadium. CECAFA has confirmed that the opening rounds of matches will be played in venues in Nairobi and Machakos, for logistical reasons.
