Beleaguered Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has been arrested by police at his home.

Fellow opposition activists; Ingrid Turinawe, Mubarak Munyagwa, the Kawempe Mayor and Doreen Nyanjura have also been arrested and are currently held at Central Police station in Kampala.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander Andrew Felix Kaweesi says Lukwago has been arrested  for vowing to go ahead with the rally.

Kaweesi says Lukwago will only be charged if he assents to this.

There are reports that he is currently detained at Naggalama Police Station in Mukono District.

Police has maintained heavy deployment at Nakivubo blue settlement primary school to block opposition politicians from staging a rally in support of Erias Lukwago, the embattled City Lord Mayor.

“As long as i am here, no politician will enter Nakivubo Blue primary school” Sam Omara, senior Superintendent of police in charge of operations.

On Friday, Betty Nambooze, the Mukono Municipality MP announced plans by opposition politicians to stage a rally at Nakivubo blue settlement primary school to explain the KCCA tribunal report to city dwellers. The report issued by the KCCA tribunal chaired by Justice Catherine Bamugemeirere implicates Lukwago for alleged incompetence, failure to sign council minutes and abuse of office.

    1. hate it, like it .. its the one in charge….. so your hating just keep it to yourself and find a solution to have another GOV.

  2. Currently Musharaf the former military ruler of Pakistan is currently facing treason charges for tempering with the constitution, one day some fellas will anser too..realax lets take all thing slow and records all.

    1. we all pray for that … we shall over come…the regime in a good way.. not like these childish prapapapapa’s

  3. What beats my understanding is the Police after torturing, tear gassing, etc they just go back to their Mama Ingiya Pole huts and sleep hungry.I wonder what some of these policemen and women will tell their children and grandchildren as most of them will retire with nothing to show after their entire working lives.

  4. At this rate, opposition politicians are being highly rated for nothing. Allowing their rally to go ahead peacefully is no big deal. Opposition is too weak to threaten the Govt !

  5. i agree with the decision taken, if Lukwago is un fit in the office, he should be pulled absolutely from the office. He should not continue serving the residents of kampala and entire ugandans. i really support KCCA for the work they are doing . please proceed!!!
