Uganda vs. Rwanda at Namboole

Uganda Cranes central defender Savio Kabugo is nolonger a doubt for Saturday’s epic international clash against rivals Rwanda at Namboole Stadium.

savio1The SC Victoria University defender has been nursing a muscle strain, but featured in the team’s 1-1 draw against SC Villa on Tuesday before seeing through last evening’s shape up session inside the 40,000 capacity Mandela National Stadium overseen by Uganda head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic and his two assistants.
Kabugo, who played an instrumental role in the Cranes’ qualification for the 2014 Africa Nations Championship, is expected to be part of Micho’s squad for the fourth coming regional CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Kenya.
“I am feeling much better now and will continue to work hard both at my club and for the national team,” Kabugo said.

The Cranes, to consist of only home-based players, are likely to struggle in the absence of midfielders Hassan Wasswa Mawanda and Denis Iguma.

While Iguma is injured, coach Micho ignored the unsettled Wasswa, who has reportedly left KCCA FC to join a Vietnam side without getting clearance.

Rwanda jets into the Country this Friday, by Precision Air and are expected to have a light training session at Namboole at 4 pm before heading to Mount Zion Hotel right in the heart of Kampala City where they will be accommodated.
