Hoima Man Kills Mother For Exposing His HIV Status

A 42-year-old man in Hoima has murdered his mother for reportedly telling him that he is HIV positive.

Peter Byabachwezi, a resident of Mparo village, Mparo Division in Hoima municipality allegedly hit his 65-year-old mother Sayuni Nyamahunge with a wooden stick on Sunday evening killing her instantly

Lydia Tumushabe, the Albert region police spokesperson said that on the fateful night Babacwezi and his mother developed a quarrel.

During the verbal exchange Nyamahunge told off her son that he is HIV positive and no longer of use to her.

The duo has been staying in the same house. Nyamahung has been taking care of Babacwezi since he was discharged from Hoima hospital where he had been admitted.

Police investigations indicate that the mother and her son have always been at quarrel, with Nyamahunge reportedly accusing Babacwezi of failing to work yet he wants food every day.

After the incident Babacwezi escaped but was arrested by residents and handed over to Hoima police station.

The suspect is in detention pending murder charges.
