Intercontinental low kick title fight
Moses Golola (Uganda) 2 -1 Poczo Zoltan (Romania) – [50-49, 45-50, 49-47]
Ugandan Kick boxer Moses Golola on Monday morning thumped Romanian fighter Poczo Zoltan.
The judges ruled (50-49 and 49-47) in Golola’s favour infront of 5,000 spectators at the newly opened Natete Shopping Center. The third judge ruled a 50-45 victory for the 36 year old Romanian.
Golola entered the ropes at 1: 20 am with musician, Bobi Wine and showed a lot of difficulty throwing his trademark punches and kick the slighter taller opponent. Many a times, Golola, who was in the red corner resorted to “hugging” and holding tight the Romanian.
It was only in the 4th round that Golola’s only kick of the chilly moon lit night, a well timed left effort wheeled the south paw kicker boxer to the canvas and the crowd this time had the genuine reason to smile with Golola whose coach, Richardson Kigozi wore a worried face for his prized asset fighter.
The fight M.C, Meddie Nseereko Ssebuliba read to the expectant crowd the judges’ results, the Romanian was left perplexed as the communication was entirely in the local verncular language of luganda.
The fight was for the vacant Intercontinental low kick title in the 75kg category and this was the third time that Golola is challenging experienced Romanians.
He has previously faced Andras Nagy, who is reported to have passed away, and Mate Zsamboki.
