Minnows CRO FC caused the biggest shock of the FUFA Super League on Tuesday evening with a 1-0 victory over Uganda’s most decorated Club, SC Villa, in a match played at the Nakivubo Stadium.
Cranes top striker Emmanuel Okwi, who was making his fifth appearance for the team he re-joined last month after FIFA cleared him after contractual problems with Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia, was sent off.
Ivan Lubaale netted a second half goal to give CRO FC their second win in the League, but they still stayed bottom of the log with a point less than Entebbe FC.
Sports Club Victoria University maintained their lead on the log after a 1-1 draw with Police FC at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
Mike Sserunkuma gave the University side the lead in the 25th minute before Ben Ocen levelled matters. It was coach Morley Byekwaso’s second straight draw with SC Victoria University, who now lead the table with 27 points.
The draw for the University side benefited Vipers SC, who closed the gap to one point after their 4-0 thumping of Soana FC.
Joseph Mpande, Simon Sserunkuma, Mike Mutyaba and youngster Yunus Ssentamu scored for the Vipers team.
In the other League matches played, Entebbe FC settled for a 2-2 draw against Bright Stars, while visiting Express FC lost 2-0 away to Masala LC FC with Samuel Kayongo and Ronald Lukungu netting the goals.
