Kampala Amatuer Volleyball club’s 35- year old Pierre Kamugasha has been recalled to the senior men’s national team set to represent Uganda at the Federation of International Volleyball Zone V World Championship qualifiers due in Kigali Rwanda this weekend.
The power attacker is returning to the national team coached by Coach Anthony Ndawula for the first time since 2009 and will have a big impact on proceedings when Uganda face Egypt, Kenya, Rwanda and Burundi with the top two teams advancing to the final qualification round.
“His commitment is unmatched. We missed him,” a Cranes official said of the KAVC star.
Kamugasha alongside Uganda Christian University power attacker Ivan Ongom replace Sky volleyball club’s Jonathan Akuguzibwe and Philip Wandawa who Ndawula dropped over dedication issues.
Kamugasha has been named most valuable player on four occasions. He also won six league crowns and got three National Open Championship gold medals.
