Sembabule: Security Investigates M23, ADF Recruitment

The M23 rebel group in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo before they were defeated.

Several people in Sembabule district are being investigated for allegedly hosting camps for training M23 and ADF rebels, Captain Lutaaya Muwanga, the District Internal Security Officer has revealed.

Captain Lutaaya Muwanga says the rebel training camps are believed to be in Lwemiyaga and Ntusi sub counties. One of the key suspects is Joy Kabatsi, a former state house aide.

Muwanga explains that they were prompted to launch investigations after Francis Talemwa Tumusiime, who was allegedly trained alongside several others to be deployed for guard duties in Iraq and Afghanistan ended up in the DRC fighting against the Joseph Kabila Government.

Tumisiime escaped from the battle field and returned to Uganda.  He immediately reported the matter to John Mugambe, the Ntusi Gombolola Internal Security Officer.
