2013 Uganda Cup winners SC Victoria University on Tuesday defeated Big League side The Saints FC 5-1 in friendly at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.

The Saints showed more hunger from the first whistle, taking the game to SCVU with Kitata Bukenya dictating terms in the middle of the park and went further to score the opening goal before SCVU’s Simon Okwi scored twice with Ceasar Sapeo, Manko Kaweesa and Savio Kabugo getting the other goals in a 5-1 win.

“There is a competitive spirit in the team and that is good as we look to face KCCA.It is important to know how the team is and this friendly has given us a good feel,”  SCVU assistant Morley Byekwaso told RedPepper Online after the game.

And Saints boss Hussien Mbalangu’s reaction was a cocktail of effect ; “There are no ifs and buts, it was a good buildup for my team but unfortunately for the errors we ended up losing our lead,” he said.

“Our general second-half performance in terms of us not being the driving force we’d been in our previous three games, was for me the catalyst for the result.”

Third placed Saints play Baza Holdings with lay in 6th in the Rwenzori Group on Saturday at Namboole.
