Sports Club Victoria University have this evening gone top of the FUFA Super League after a deserved 2-0 win over fellow giants URA FC at the Mandela national Stadium, Namboole.
Muwadda Mawejje and Dan Nsubuga were the scorers, as coach Paul Nkata’s URA side failed to find the net.
“I am very happy that we have ended the month on a winning note after suffering a lot in the previous matches without picking wins,” said Victoria’s coach Alex Isabirye.
Nkata was a bitter man after the game claiming his players again wasted many chances in-front of goal. “We shall always be punished iof we can’t take our chances,” said Nkata.
The win takes SC Victoria University two points ahead of defending champions KCCA FC who are on 20 points.
In the other game played, Cranes star striker Emmanuel Okwi netted his second goal for new side SC Villa in their win over Entebbe FC at Nakivubo Stadium.
The former Simba SC (Tanzania) and Etoile du Sahel (Tunisia) striker who netted in his first game last week made no mistake getting his name on the score sheet and celebrated in style in-front of the team supporters.
“I am happy to keep scoring,” Okwi told MTNFootball.com.
Police FC slipped to ninth place after a 1-1 draw with Masaka LC FC. Haruna Mulindwa scored for Police, while Aloysoius Lubega found the net for the visiting side.
