Golf will return to the Kitante par 72 golf course in Kampala when the Pepsi Cola-sponsored Independence day Golf tournament kicks off on Wednesday, October 9.
Making the announcement on Monday, Innocent Tibayeita, the head of sales and marketing, said Shs150 million has been injected into the annual golfing tournament to make it more exciting than the previous one.
The sponsorship, which will cover publicity, refreshments, prizes and player kits, among others, further deepens Pepsi’s commitment to golf and sport Uganda-wide. Aqua Sipi, ICEA, Stanbic Bank,ED&F Man, Milly Glass Works Ltd, Metal Crowns, Dfcu Bank, Brandactive and BTL are co-sponsors of the tournament.
Mr Tibayeita said, “Pepsi is one of the world’s leading brands at the forefront of sports and this sponsorship provides a perfect platform for the brand to invite and inspire fans to Live for Now.”
Pepsi’s announcement of the sponsorship comes at a time when the company is executing the Pepsi global marketing campaign in Uganda. Pepsi announced its first global campaign,
“The tournament comes on the day that holds a special place in the hearts of both Ugandan golfers and Ugandans generally. Therefore, we’re very pleased that we shall make Ugandans cherish the moment now,” Tibayeita added.
At least 200 golfers are expected to take part in the tournament that will be played in the stable-ford format.
