The Bukanga NRM Primary Polls have delayed in some sub counties. The process was delayed after polling materials were not distributed on time despite a commitment by the Party’s electoral commission that materials would be at all designated polling centers by 6.00 am.
Civil servants eyeing to contest the Bukanga County MP seat in Isingiro district on the NRM ticket protested the road map issued by the party Electoral Commission saying it favors specific individuals. The sat fell vacant last week after Gregory Matovu, the area MP succumbed to the deadly throat cancer at Nakasero Hospital. As a result, Professor Elijah Mushemeza, the NRM Electoral Commission vice chairperson issued a road map for primary elections to fill the vacant seat.
According to the roadmap, Mushemeza ordered all civil servants who seek to contest to resign from public offices, present their academic documents, together with recommendation letters from their respective schools.
The general election will be held on November 26th.
