Kyazanga Health Centre 1V which is located along Mbarara-Kampala highway is in a Mortuary Space crisis.
Due to its location, the health centre receives many accident victims on a daily basis yet the space at the hospital is not enough.
It is even believed that most of the bodies decompose from the mortuary when the relatives of the deceased delay to pick them.
This pollutes the air and hence sanitation challenges to staff and residents.
Joseph Katamba, the town council health inspector confirms that the hospital is in an imperfect state of mortuary services.
Katamba notes that despite the unpardonable state of the mortuary, the demand for the mortuary services is increasing at an increasing rate. This has affected the quality of service delivery at the health center.
Katamba warned that unless immediate action is taken, there might be a serious disease outbreak that will cause havoc to the people surrounding the health centre.
Kyazanga Town council chairperson Rashid Mulindwa said that they have already informed the Ministry of health about the sorry state of Mortuary. He expects the Ministry to swing into action by providing refrigerators and other storage facilities at the mortuary.
