Motocross Challenge Gets World No.5 Biker, Shs. 30m Boast

The second round of the Central Africa Motocross Challenge is not only going to be graced by Nick de Wilt who is ranked No.5 in the world but also earned an additional Shs30million injection from event sponsors Mountain Dew.

Last year, Mountain Dew cemented a relationship with the sport following its announcement of a Shs500 million three-year package to the Uganda Motocross Club and the event will be held at the Uganda Motorsport Arena in Busiika on August 4, 2013.

The organizers of the race, Speedway Motorsports Club (SMOC), have also invited a guest rider, South African Nick de Wit, who is a world renowned freestyle motocross rider to thrill the fans

“He has many tricks that fans in Uganda have never seen,” Bryan Tumusiime, the SMOC chairman, said at the launch of the event in Rubaga.

“Both Mountain Dew and Motocross are about adventure, excitement, thrill and extreme fun and the extra Shs30 million we have pumped into the Busiika event is symbolic of our commitment to developing motocross in Uganda,” Timothy Luzinda, the Mountain Dew brand manager, said.

But the battle lines will be drawn when Maxim Van Pee, Asaf Natan, Barak Orlando, Unissan Bakunda and Yannick Duyck among  from Uganda fight to wrestle the East African championship from the Kenyan team led by Tutu Maina, Shivam Vinayak, and Cruz Mungai who beat them in Nairobi last month.
