Kanzira Crowned 2013 Uganda Pool Queen

Reigning Uganda Sports Press Association (Uspa) Female Pool player of the year and current Kampala Open Pool queen Carol Kanzira over the weekend added yet another accolade to her bulging trophy cabinet when she was crowned PAU 2013 Pool Queen.

The seasoned pool player saw off competition from 64 opponents PAU’s biggest ladies only event that holds the highest seeding points for female pool players

Kanzira started with a 3 to 1 win over Allen Namubiru in the Round of 64 and survived Phiona Nalubega in the Quarter Final Round with a 3 to 2 victory before beating former queen Brenda Tendo 2-1 to lineup a date with last year’s losing finalist Nakiridde Hadijah and register a memorable 4-2 win and clinch the coveted crown.

“Am very happy because this is what I have been looking for the past four years,” she told Pepper Sport.

Meanwhile Edward Byaruhanga, the 2011 Kabale Nile Special National Open Pool sent a bold warning to the other finalist after reclaiming his title at Agaba Tavern as the Nile Special National Pool Open qualifiers toured parts of western Uganda over the weekend.

Byaruhanga came from 3-1 down to defeat Kenneth Muhanuka to win the best of seven final 4-3 before declaring intentions for the Toyata Progress – the staked prize for the overall national champion slotted for August 31 at Lugogo Indoor stadium.

“My next target is the car when I get to Lugogo next month and I will fight to the last minute to win it,” he said.
