Hip Hop lovers should ready themselves for a hot 12 track album in the next few weeks. The album was recorded at the the just concluded Hip Hop Boot camp 2013.
Organizers did not only record a music album but also discussed various issues affecting artists who do the genre.
The hip hop boot camp 2013 was held in Jinja from 17 June 2013 to 27 June 2013. 18 participants were selected from six regions in Uganda namely Arua, Gulu, mbale, Jinja, Mbarara and Kampala.
During the gathering, participants were put put in a residential camp for two weeks . The first activity of each day was a compulsory physical exercise by all participants at 6am followed by a voice training session 2 hours later. The main activities of the boot camp were the studio recording sessions and workshops. The 18 participants were divided into groups of 6 to work with producers Benon of Swangz Av, Hanz tactic and David Mukalazi.
Each producer was given a task to record 3 songs each and all the recordings were carried out in boot camp. The best three participants from the recordings are to record the main song of the boot camp with Benon at Swangz Avenue. A ten track album will be released in a couple of weeks as a product of the boot camp.
Topics covered during the workshops included, Artist management, branding and promotion of a hip hop artiste, Rap performance, rap song writing, music and entrepreneurship, these workshops were facilitated by shadrack of platinum ent, Sylvester of bayimba, producer Just jose, Julius kyazze of Buzz events , burney mc and others
This year’s Hip hop boot camp was organized by Bayimba foundation in partnership with Platinum entertainment and was supported by the Royal Danish Embassy in Kampala and CKU (centre for culture and development).
