Airtel National Basketball League
Women: UCU vs KCCA
Men: Power vs Warriors
This encounter is absolutely a crowd-puller and action packed to be exact. Airtel National Basketball League (ANBL) defending champions Riham Warriors (formerly Kyambogo) will tonight look to pocket victory over sworn rivals DMark Power at Lugogo.
Warriors last season carried the championship with four-time champs Power flopping in the quarterfinals but with the Wandegeya outfit riding high on a 10-10 winning streak in 2013, Brian Gumisiriza’s (Warriors) ultimate first round gift would be spoiling the Power joy.
“How we would love to defeat Power and stop all this unbeaten talk in town,” echoed the Warriors legend
On the contrary, Power players are trending on a different approach to the giants clash on Friday night.
“We respect Warriors as a team and the fact that we shall be facing the reigning champion, every second on the court matters,” Ben Komakech told RED Pepper.com
“The team has prepared well enough for the game and would want to keep the winning form intact,” Power coach Bernes Ankunda added.
Isaac Afidra spurred Power to their 10th win last week with the biggest performance on the big-stage this season when he recorded 29 points and 18 rebounds to condemn Uganda Christian University Canons to an 82-75 beating; their single defeat in 10 games so far.
The game will be proceeded by a clash beaten the two other unbeaten sides in the women’s category defending champions KCCA Leopards and losing finalists UCU Lady Canons.
