The US Ambassador to Uganda Scott DeLisi has lauded President Yoweri Museveni for his fight against Malaria in the country and pledged his country’s continued support especially in the area of health.
He said this while meeting President Museveni on Saturday together with a United States delegation he led at State House Entebbe.
The President and the visiting US delegation discussed a range of bilateral as well as regional issues concerning health and security among others.
Support from the American people for malaria control in Uganda has increased significantly over the years, from $9.5 million in 2006 to $33.9 million in 2011. And U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), is supporting country ownership and sustainability through partnership with the Ministry of Health’s National Malaria Control Program and others.
The United States has also been a leading partner in the restoration of peace not only in the region but also the continent at large.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Kutesa and other Foreign Affairs officials.
