Norman Blick produced a late individual effort to help DMark Power beat arch rivals Falcons 87-78 in an Airtel national Basketball League game on Friday night at Lugogo.The reigning MVP who returned to DMark Power in the transfer period from champions Kyambogo Warriors scored two late crucial three pointers to finish the game with 17 points. Although Falcons was dominant in the three quarters, DMark Power played a clever game in the last quarter to win the game.DMark Power senior player Isaac Afidra acknowledged it had been a hard fought game against Falcons. Afidra picked 13 points together with Paul Mwaka and Paul Odong.
Former professional Steven Omony was in good form with a game high 28 points for Falcons, while Peter Elugat and Abdulahi Ramadhan had 14 and 13 points respectively. Falcons have now lost two games, while DMark Power and UCU Canons have not lost a game in the men’s top division.
In the women’s category, 2005 Champions A-1 Challenge lost to UCU Lady Canons 37-64. Angella Namirimu scored a game high 15 points for the Univeristy side, while Purity Odhiambo and Poscovia Peace picked 10 and 7 points respectively. Liz Bazira was the only A-1 Challenge player to score in double figures with 10 points.
Action continues tomorrow at the YMCA Court with Miracle facing Charging Rhinos, Nkumba Marines battling Victoria University Heaters, and magic Stormers playing defending champions KCCA Leopards in the women’s category.
