The Prime Minister revealed this Sunday on his regular interactive Q and A twitter session he normally conducts with his followers.

His revelation was prompted by a one Twikirize Daniel (@TWIKIRIZE) who asked “Gd Mrning Sir! How true r Gen Sejusa’s accusations abt the Muhoozi Project?”

The Prime Minister answered saying “I am not aware of the existence of such a project.”

The ‘Muhoozi Project’ is loose translation of an alleged scheme by President Museveni to have his son Brigadier Muhoozi Kainerugaba replace him as leader of this country.

Brigadier Muhoozi is the commander of the Special Forces Command (SFC), an elite unit in Uganda’s army charged with providing security to the President, national resources among others.

The so called ‘Project Muhooz’i gained prominence after now renegade general and coordinator of Intelligence services, General David Sejjusa in a letter, directed the head of Internal Security Organization (ISO) to investigate allegations that a plot existed to bump off politicians and army officers opposed to the project.

General Sejjusa who is a member of the army high command has been holed up in Europe since April when his letter leaked to the media.

Those mentioned as being lined up for ‘possible assassination’ included; General Sejjusa, General Aronda Nyakairima, the former Chief of Defence Forces and the Prime Minister among others.

However, the government has denied the existence of such a project and the Prime Minister’s revelation comes after Brigadier Muhoozi through SFC mouthpiece Captain Edison Kwesiga says he has never had interest in contesting the country’s top job and that the project is the people’s creation.

He however maintained that there is no law that bars him from contesting for any office in the country provided he follows the law.
