M7 Fulfills Pledge To Kipsiro, UAF

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has finally honoured his pledge of a 30-seater bus to the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) and a double cabin pick-up to athlete Moses Kipsiro.

Charles Bakkabulindi, the State Minister in-charge of Sports who represented the President, handed over the two brand new vehicles dueing a ceremony at the National Council of Sports (NCS) headquarters this afternoon.

Kipsiro, who was however informed late yesterday, failed to make the trip to Kampala to receive his pick-up. Jasper Aligawesa, the NCS General Secretary and Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) President, William Blick also attended the function.

Dominic Otuchet, President of the Athletics Federation, said he was happy this bus had finally come and it would help the Federation. He said the bus will be very important to the athletes’ in terms of transportation. After his triumph in the 2010 Commonwealth Games where he won a double gold medal, the President promised Kipsiro a car and also offered to help UAF.

Last yeat the President promised the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) and UAF a bus each and UGX350 million annually to help develop their respective disciplines. But FUFA already received the bus and also got part payment of UGX21 million as they prepared for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Last year Museveni also offered Uganda’s sole gold medal winner at the 2012 London Olympics Stephen Kiprotich 200 million shillings and promised to build him and his parents three bed roomed houses in his home town of Kapchorwa.
