Kampala Capital City Authority-KCCA FC players are to share 15 million shillings that was given to the team by FUFA president Lawrence Mulindwa after their victory in the FUFA super league. Mulindwa handed the money to KCCA FC during the crowning ceremony of the league champions at Lugogo stadium on Friday night. George Nsimbe’s boys sealed their victory after defeating Aurum Roses 3-1. Michael Okua, the KCCA FC chairperson says that they have decided that the cash offered by Mulindwa is shared by the players; while they organize a big party after the completion of the League.
KCCA FC, who are also at the quarter final stage of the knockout of Uganda Cup have one game to complete the FUFA Super League. George Nsimbe, the KCCA FC head coach says his team will be very competitive when they take part in the CAF Champions League next year. Nsimbe told Uganda Radio Network that after coming close to making it to the Group stages of the Champions League in 2009 before falling to Nigeria’s Bayelsa FC, he is going to make sure they recruit more players so that they are competitive in the lucrative tournament.
Erias Lukwago, the Kampala Lord Mayor praised the team for the hard work, adding that they want to see the team winning more trophies both locally and at the International level. Cranes defensive midfielder Hassan Wasswa who is eyeing a move to the PSL in South Africa says he chose KCCA because it was a competitive team. He however, said that he will not be with the team when they play in the CAF Champions League next year.
In the 3-1 win over Aurum Roses FC, Habib Kavuma, Tony Ndoro and Rogers Aloro scored for KCCA FC, while Farouk Kawooya picked the consolation goal for the already relegated Aurum. In the other matches played Proline FC eased their relegation worries with a 2-0 victory over Victors.
Mike Sserunkuma and Richard Kasagga netted for Proline. Second placed URA FC humbled Water 2-0, while SC Villa and Simba settled for a barren draw. Dethroned champions Express were held to a 1-all draw by Kira Young, while Masaka FC picked a 2-1 win over Entebbe FC.
