UPDF Deserter Stabs Wife To Death,Commits Suicide

Godfrey Masinde Okuku, a UPDF deserter and resident of Bulumbi Sub County in Busia district has stabbed his wife to death before committing suicide. Okuku stabbed his wife Rosemary Akech to death before he turned the same knife on himself. The incident occurred on Saturday night in Kedera Agola B Village in Rubongi Sub County in Tororo District.

Robert Katuramu, the Tororo District Police Commander says that Okuku followed Aketch to her mother’s place where she has been staying since they broke up last year and stabbed her to death. In her statement to police, Angela Akongo, the mother to the deceased alleges that Okuku sneaked into her house at about 8:00pm and found Aketch preparing supper in the kitchen. She claims that Okuku stabbed Aketch several times in the back and chest before he turned the knife on himself and slit his throat.

Katuramu says that by the time a team of cops led by Milton Birungi, the officer in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department arrived at the scene they found the bodies of the couple lying in a pool of blood.
According to police, postmortem reports indicate that the couple died of excessive bleeding. By Sunday evening their bodies were still at Tororo municipal mortuary awaiting their relatives to pick them for burial.
