The office of the president has expressed dismay over the poor performance of Resident District Commissioner (RDCs) in the implementation of government programmes and policies.
While addressing RDCs from the Central region in three days sensitization workshop at Colline Hotel –Mukono,The minister for the presidency Hon. Frank Tumwebaze said a number of RDCs are likely to lose their appointments due to their involvement in partisan politics, incompetency in monitoring government projects and engaging in dubious deals with the land grabbers.
Tumwebaze said a number of government projects have failed to meet their intended goals due RDC’s reluctance to full fill their obligations of mobilizing communities instead spend most of the time stereo typing NRM instead of government obligation to the citizens.
However some RDCs their work is inseparable from the ruling party NRM where their appointing officer is the head. They also said they have a lot of challenges coming from the frustrated citizens whose attitude to profitable work needs change.
