Ronnie Wamagali, a junior instructor at the East African Civil Aviation Academy in Soroti is in trouble for alleged theft. Wamagali was picked up by Police on Tuesday and released on bond in connection to the theft of student property. It all started after Kefa Namaga, a resident of Soroti senior quarters was found by security loitering in the compound of the East African Civil Aviation Academy on Monday night.
Namaga was later handed over to Soroti Central police station for interrogation. Juma Hassan Nyene, the East Kyoga Police Spokesperson says police led the suspect to his home in senior quarters where they recovered suspected stolen property.
It is alleged that during interrogations, Namaga told police that he was given the items by Wamagali because he has access in the school. Nyene says that they decided to pick up Wamagali to help police with investigations. He says that preliminary investigations show that some students are involved in the theft. Ronald Lodiong, the acting Director East African Civil Aviation Academy says that they have been facing a challenge of the theft of student property. Recently, an unidentified Tanzanian student lost 3 million shillings that was kept in his dormitory.
