Uganda Trains For Liberia Challenge

The Uganda Cranes will set up a training camp in Accra for three days ahead of a crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier in Liberia next Sunday.

Uganda FA spokesman Rogers Mulindwa confirmed to MTNFootball.com the decision of the technical and executive committees for the team to train in the Ghanian capital city for three days before heading to Monrovia.

“The team will go into residential training at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Monday and fly out on Thursday aboard Kenya Airways,” added Mulindwa.

Liberia play host to Uganda on Sunday, March 24, at the Samuel Konyan Doe Sports complex.

Uganda are currently second in the group behind Senegal after their two draws against Angola and Senegal.

The technical committee also disclosed that strikers Geoffrey Massa (Cyprus) and Emmanuel Okwi (Tunisia) will link up with the rest of the team in Accra.

Some of the Cranes pros like Geoffrey Walusimbi, who plies his trade with Don Bosco in DR Congo, Musa Mudde and Abbey Dhaira (Simba, Tanzania) and striker Robert Ssentongo St. George, Ethiopia) have already arrived in the country.

Joseph Oloya, Kizito Geoffrey and South Africa-based goalkeeper Denis Onyango are expected, while skipper Andy Mwesigwa, Isaac Isinde and TP Mazembe’s Mike Mutyaba will be in camp on Monday morning.

US-based Henry Kalungi will be the last arrival on Tuesday, while Joseph Ochaya is already in Ghana, where he features for the Premier League giants Asante Kotoko.
