Mugisha Muntu went ahead to refute the Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura’s allegations that Dr. Kizza Besigye the former party president is behind a rebel group called Munansi which is going on instilling attacks on security installations in the country .
Opposition officials under their umbrella For God and My Country (4GC) also denied having links with rebels operating in the central region. However on Sunday the IGP Lt Gen Kale Kayihura confirmed security was investigating opposition strongman Col. Kizza Besigye over subversive activities.
Kayihura told Parliament last week that “Police have been trialing Besigye because he had on numerous occasions stated or suggested that he was on course of using force to remove the government, but the police was acting within the law” Kayihura cautioned “there was a small section of the political class who seemed to believe that they could get into power other than through elections – that is using unconstitutional means.” He advised that “such individuals should make a choice either to work within the constitutional and democratic framework or go to the bush like Kony.”
