Victoria University, IP3 Ink Deal
Victoria University (VU) has continued to prove its gusto in promoting energy management Specialists in the country.
In a bid to promote the internationally recognized and marketable courses in Uganda, on Wednesday this week, VU entered into partnership with the Institute for Public-Private Partnership (IP3), one of the World’s leading training provider and advisor to governments, financial institutions and Public service providers in growing international infrastructure market place.
While launching the partnership with Victoria University, IP3 Director and Vice President of Tetra Tech, David Baxter disclosed that, students of Victoria University students are now going to benefit in training areas including; Project Finance, Public-Private Partnerships’, Utility Management in Oil and Gas, Economic Growth and governance and Regulations.
Meanwhile, VU Vice Chancellor, Dr. Stephen Robert Isabalija revealed that, all the accredited programs offered in partnership with the institution, will include; Planning, measuring, Managing contingent Liabilities and government risks in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects, anticorruption measures to improve government transparency and accountability, PPP strategies, methods and project structuring techniques, designing legislative, institutional and regulatory frameworks, PPP life cycle, contact procurement, implementation, performance monitoring and contract resolution, Public sector management, governance and Fiscal Sustainability techniques, Oil gas (Law, environmental management, supply chain and logistics management, health and safety and project management), measuring and assessing value for money for public investment in infrastructure, among others.
During the launch, several alumni who included; the Executive Director, Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) Dr. Eng. Frank Sebbowa, testified that, with IP3 extending its services to Uganda through Victoria University, it’s good news since there are many Ugandans who have been moving out of the country to acquire the IP3 programs.
On the other hand, the VU promoter, Rajiv Ruparelia pledged to give out free IPads to every accredited IP3 student.
Victoria University- Uganda is now the latest higher learning institution in the World to enter into a partnership with the USA based IP3. Others include; Water, Engineering, and Development Centre (WEDC)Southborough University, South African Development Community Banking Association, Caribbean Electric Utility Service Corporation, The Eno Centre for Transportation, and Water Sanitation for Africa (WSA).
