A judge on Friday sentenced Ronald Serunjogi, 35, of Saco, to four months in jail and four months of home confinement.

Serunjogi was convicted of helping Sampson Sengoonzi, who had overstayed his tourist visa, pay a Lewiston woman to marry Sengoonzi.

Serunjogi was convicted in May this year by a jury in U.S. District Court of marrying a Maine resident in order to become a U.S. citizen following a three-day trial, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.

Serunjogi was also accused of assisting Sengoonzi in preparing immigration documents.

The two formerly of Biddeford, paid Alice May, 28, of Lewiston to marry Sengoonzi, according to a press release issued by the U.S. attorney’s office. Immigration officials detected the fraud.

Sengoonzi pleaded guilty to a marriage fraud charge in March 2012 and was sentenced to one month in prison. He was deported after his release.

May pleaded guilty to marriage fraud conspiracy in October 2011.

    1. This has nothing to do with survival for the fittest, it is more like survival for the “STUPIDEST” has got himself in all this mess, there is way back for this! Now with a criminal record, any thing including being deported is on the card! Did he really had to do this? he was driven by greed, these are the people who give us a good. If he had any brain cells, he should have enrolled in college get an education, get a proper job like any body else, earn money like the rest of, instead of going for this ‘get rich quick’ schemes. I have no sympathy for a piece of crap like, she should be sent back to the street of Kampala and how he can surive.
