Uganda Set To Host International Woodball Open


Uganda will host the 5th Edition of Uganda International Open Woodball Championship due June 29th to July 2nd, 2017 at Kisubi Beach, Entebbe.

Malaysia Woodball Association is the first country to confirm its presence and will send a 4-man team to compete in the championship.

The Team comprise of Elaine Tan the President of Malaysia Woodball Association and head of delegation, Teoh Swee Khim, Thomas  Kok and Frankie Yeo.

Looking at the relationship of two nations, Uganda first sent a Team to Malaysia in 2008 for the 13th Malaysia Open. It comprised of Ssennyondo Godwin Nakaana (Bank of Uganda), Musisi El-Mohammed (Makerere University), Asiimwe Richard McBond (Makerere University) and Namuddu Sophia (Ndejje University).

In 2012, Uganda sent 8 players to compete at the 5th World Cup Woodball Championship, also comprised of Atamba Onesmus (Ndejje University), Zawedde Lillian (Ndejje University), Wabuyu Jerry (Ndejje University), Amuleni Matrida (Nakaseke Core PTC), Nabukalu Daniela (Ndejje University), Kikatushemeza Shallot (MUBS) and Kateregga John Baptist.

It will be the first time for Team Malaysia to compete on Ugandan fairways.

Other countries like Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, China, Japan and Korea are the other Asian teams that have confirmed competing at this year’s Uganda International Open.

While Kenya, Tanzania, Comoros, Rwanda, Burundi, Zimbabwe, Democratic Republic of Congo and Nigeria are the African teams that have confirmed participation.
