During today’s court proceedings, the Nakawa High Court Judge Lydia Mugabe said the call print-outs will be useful on uncovering Aine’s last minute conversations that are vital in tracing his whereabouts.

Aine was last seen in public in December 2015. Police has on many occasions denied being behind Aine’s disappearance while Mbabazi camp says police arrested him.

A photo purported to be Aine’s dead body published early this month forced Ugandan police and Aine’s relatives to swing into action. Police questioned and detained Controversial former Political Intelligence Unit boss Charles Rwomushana, Red Pepper Chief Editor Ben Byarabaha and Dickson Mubiru, Kamunye over the same issue.

Amidst the saga, Aine’s sister Ms Ritah Babirye Aine, said the photo of the dead body was Aine. She opined that her brother has a scar above the eye which he got in an accident and a gap between the teeth; these features were visible on the pictures of the dead body that was circulating on social media. However, the family later refuted Babirye’s arguments.

The court was hearing an application seeking an order to compel the Police to produce Aine by Amama Mbabazi lawyers.
