Andrew Francis Obirai, a business man in Soroti has been on the run since September 7th when he reportedly attacked his estranged lover Dorothy Atim with Acid in Soroti town.  The two had been together for over seven years. At the time of the incident, it is reported that Atim had moved on with someone else.

Obirai however handed himself over to police early this morning ending the fruitless police search for him. But he eventually became violent, shouting on top of his voice and hurling insults at journalists gathered at the scene.

He attempted to grab the cameras upon realizing that pressmen had insisted on capturing his picture before being restrained by police personnel.

Joab Wabwire the Soroti District Police Commander says Obirai will soon be produced before the courts of law to answer charges of attempted murder.

Rev. David Epongu Opio the Vicar St. Peter’s cathedral said that Obirai deserves a punishment that will serve as a deterrent for others who would be tempted to engage in similar acts. Rev.  Epongu also expresses concern over the increasing cases of domestic violence in Teso region.
