‘Security forced me to eat pork, drink alcohol’, Jailed ADF Leader Jamil Tells Court

Jailed Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) Commander, Jamil Mukulu who was arrested in Tanzania and later extradited to Uganda told Jinja Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday that Security operatives at Nalufeenya forced him to eat pork and also take alcohol, well knowing that he is Muslim!
Mukulu who was appearing before the Jinja Court Magistrate, John Francis Kaggwa amidst tight security on Tuesday, struggled to hold back his tears as he narrated his ordeal.
According to Solomon Muyita, the Judiciary Spokesperson, it is Mukulu’s lawyer; Thomas Jatiko that asked Jinja Court to have his client be transferred from Nalufenya detention centre to Luzira Prison as the prosecution side continues with their investigations.
Mukulu is accused with two others including; Muhammad Matovu and Abdallah Mutuka, of murdering five people including two police officers Busoga sub-region.
Meanwhile, since he was the ADF top commander when his rebel group allegedly  killed and also abducted hundreds of people in Kyegegwa, Kasese, Kampala, and other areas using DRC as his hideout, both Ugandan authorities and the International Police, declared Jamil Mukulu a wanted man.
It is alleged that in 1998, he masterminded the Kichwamba Technical Institute raid in which about 80 students were burnt to death at night. He is also believed to have been behind the bomb attacks in 1990, where scores were killed especially in Kampala Central business area in addition to the Muslim clerics’ killings.
Mukulu started his rebel group in 1995 and immediately launched attacks against President Yoweri Museveni’s regime. Before he was captured, he had resorted to living an ordinary life, hiding in Tanzania, and Kenya. He had ventured in car dealing and real estate’s business to dupe his hunters after his group was declared a terrorist organization by the United States of America.
