Ntege – El Merreikh Won’t Have A Chance

NtegeKampala Capity City Authoriy FC midfielder Ivan Ntege says El Merreikh cannot overturn their 2-0 away CAF Champions League loss this Saturday in Kampala.

The Uganda Cranes 2014 CHAN star was praised for playing a big role as KCCA swept to a historic first-ever win for his famed Lugogo club against Sudan opposition in a CAF Champions League in a preliminary first round match in Oudarman.

Strikers Tony Odur and the league’s top scorer last season, Herman Wasswa, netted the goals which means their opponents  need to score three unanswered goals away from home this Saturday to overturn that result and advance to the first round.

“We wouldn’t allow that to happen to us, definitely not,” Ntege told Red Pepper Online Sport on Tuesday noon in an exclusive interview.

“The return leg is a different ball game but that will be our aim we want to keep our participation in the competitive alive and will work hard.”

In 2009 the Sudanese giants beat KCCA FC 1-0 before drawing 1-1 in the return leg in Khartoum in the same tournament.

The Uganda champions, who missed the services of playmaker Steven Bengo due to injury, will hope that the player is fit for theSaturday return leg.

If KCCA FC eject El Merreikh they will face the winner between Zambia’s Nkana Red Devils and Mbabane Swallows. The Swaziland giants humbled Nkana 2-0 in the first leg played in Mbabane last weekend.
