Police at Entebbe International Airport on Wednesday afternoon arrested a mother and her daughter of Nigerian origin trying to smuggle drugs worth Shs1.365bn.
Police have identified the two as Anugo Agness Ogwal 76 and her daughter Anugo Gloria 35.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Emirian Kayima, the two were caught in possession of 5kgs of Heroin worth Shs1.3bn.
“The mother and daughter who claimed that they had come to Uganda for an introduction ceremony had an intention of smuggling the heroin to Nigeria through Ethiopia.” Kayima said.
Uganda is apparently turning into the escape root of drug smuggler as two South Africa nationals were in October nabbed at Entebbe Airport trying to smuggle cocaine worth Shs368m.
