Mbabazi went missing a week ago at about midday when she had just left Katwe Police station where she was following up a case of threatening violence.

According to Mbabazi’s brother, Bruce Mucunguzi the family last saw the missing person on 19th September 2014 at 7:45am as she left her father’s home to go to Katwe Police Station.

Mbabazi switched off her phone between 11am and midday that Friday.

Police is now following up on two case files, one being the threatening violence complaint against MP Tinkasimire and the file of missing person but is yet to establish any connection.

The relatives are yet to receive a call print out of the missing persons phone.

Mbabazi reportedly filed a case of threatening violence by her estranged husband MP Tinkasimire. This followed Tinkasimire earlier reporting to police that Mbabazi had allegedly stolen his car. Mbabazi claimed that the car had been a gift from Tinkasimire.

Mbabazi is believed to have initially confided in the head of Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Directorate (CIID) Rebecca Namugenyi on 2nd September 2014 but received a call from the husband as she left the police.

The matter which was discussed with Namugenyi is yet to be revealed by police.

MP Tinkasimire could not be reached for a comment.

KMP police Mr Patrick Onyango says, police is still carrying out investigations. Onyango says they are treating the case as a possible kidnap or murder case.

The couple, who have lived apart for 8 months since their 2012 marriage, had repeatedly been to police many times trading accusations.

In 2012 MP Tinkasimire’s first wife died after five days in the Intensive Care Unit of Mulago after she sustained multiple injuries when unidentified assailants torched their house in Mukono.

Tinkasimire was interrogated ad police is yet to conclude the investigation.
