A 42 year old man, resident in Kanekye tading centre, Sheema district, has handed himself over to police after stabbing a meat vendor to death.
Alex Mujuni is reported to have killed Milton Bwizire of Kashozi in Sheema district last evening after a quarrel over meat.
Ronald Tumwine, an eye witness, told URN that while at one of the bars in Kanekye trading centre, Mujuni approached late Milton Bwizire who was roasting meat for sale and made an order.
Bwizire is reported to have served Mujuni with less meat than Mujuni believed he was paying for.
A quarrel ensued leading to a serious fight during which Mujuni snatched a knife from Bwizire’s table and ran it through his ribs. Bwizire died moments after.
Martial Tumusiime, the Bushenyi greater police spokesperson, says Mujuni turned himself in to Local Council One authorities in Kinoni, Rwampara county, Mbarara district. Mujuni was afraid he would be lynched by Bwizire’s colleagues.
Tumusiime says Mujuni has now been transferred to Sheema police station in Sheema district as investigations into the matter continue.
