High Court sitting in Kabale has sentenced a 65 year old man to 10 years to Ndorwa government prison for manslaughter.

Court presided over by Justice Michael Elubu Heard that Benon Tusingwire Benon (65) caused the death of his brother Papius Matsiko in 2012.

Tusingwire, a resident of Kitankombe, Bushuro parish in Kitumba Sub County was found guilty of causing the death of his brother identified as Papius Mastiko.

The judge revealed that the evidence produced in the court proved that he had killed his brother after misunderstandings over ownership of a piece of land.

The quarrel is said to have escalated and he hit the brother with a piece of wood which later led to his death.

The accused pleaded guilty to the offence and asked the court to set him free saying that he had not intended to kill his brother in addition to being a first time offender.

Justice Elubu said that since the accused did not waste court’s time, he sentenced him to 10 years in jail saying that it should act as a lesson to others.
