Kampala Police are hunting for a UPDF soldier accused of shooting dead three people and injuring three others at a pub in Kinawataka, a city suburb. The incident occurred on Sunday night. The suspect has been identified as Patrick Odongo, who is based at Mbuya army barracks. The dead are Scovia Okello, the girlfriend to the suspect, Caesar Kere and a three – year- old minor only identified as Junior.

The injured who are nursing gunshot wounds at Mulago national referral hospital are Odongkara, Agnes Adong and Denis Kitala. According to police it all started after Odongo got involved in a quarrel with his girlfriend Scovia Okello. It is alleged that shortly after the quarrel, Odongo rushed to Mbuya military barracks and picked up his gun.

He returned to the pub and shot his victims killing three instantly and injuring three others before fleeing into hiding. Ibin Senkumbi, the Central Region Police spokesperson says they recovered 12 cartridges at the scene of the shooting. He says police has started hunting for the suspect to bring him to Justice.

The incident also joins a string of shooting incidents involving UPDF soldiers and women. In March this year, a UPDF solider shot ten people dead at a pub Bombo following a brawl over a women. It came after another UPDF soldier shot dead three people including his wife for allegedly squandering his saving following his return from duty in Somalia.

Last month, a security guard attached to Hash Security group also shot dead four people after having a misunderstanding with his girlfriend.
