Juma Seiko Guard Charged, Remanded

A private body guard to a UPDF Major Juma Seiko has been charged and remanded to Luzira maximum prison on charges of murder and attempted murder.

Alex Cherotich, 28, appeared before Buganda Road court chief magistrate Jamson Karemani on Friday who read to him 2 counts of murder and other 2 of attempted murder.

Prosecution led by Emily Ninsiima states that on the 4th December 2016 at Major Seiko’s residence in Nakasero hill, Cherotich an ex-soldier used a gun to kill Lameck Ogwanga and Fred Ssembatya.

Prosecution further alleges that the trigger-happy Cherotich also injured David Ssenkubuge and Solomon Mugabi who had come with the deceased as they tried to force themselves into Seiko’s home.

Cherotich was not allowed to enter plea on all the 4 counts as murder is capital in nature and only tried by the High court.

He has been sent on remand at Luzira prison where he will spend his Christmas until the 30th December 2016 when he will re-appear in court for mention.
